Its been a long time since my last update but thats because I've been busy decorating the Happiest place on Earth! ...DISNEYLAND!!! Its been a lot of fun seeing and being apart of the behind the scenes action at Disney! I will be posting more work that I have done but here is a Christmas card I just finished for some dear friends of mine Anna, MItch and their dog Teddy. Well here are some more updated version of the layouts from below with another I've been working on. I still am working on adding the little details to them, Just trying to get the overall look and feel to them. The first two are most likely changing to match the very bottom one in relationship with the way I am going to be laying in more graphic shadowing instead of the gradients. Let. Well I'm on a group project in charge of layouts and all background. Here are a few of my layouts for a scene within the short... learning when you got to do about 40 different layouts you can't do tonal studies of everyone... would be nice though. Enjoy ALOT more to come.

Well finals are over and life is better! here was a layout I did last semester but I decided to paint it now. I wanted to give another process post to show what I do. Hope yall enjoy!

Step One: Rough Perspective perspective is the key to making the space believable

Step Two: Clean line line weight variation is important to create more dynamic depth within a flat line drawing

Step Three: Paint color relations are key to creating a harmonic painting. The colors might not be the exact color compared with natural lighting but to create a emphasis and a mood, the relation between those colors on the page must be correct which will make the painting that much more believable

Well I recently purchased a nice arrangement of gouache paints and have been told they are hard to work with.....I have been having a ball with them!! I really enjoy watercolors but at times I would like to paint a little quicker without being scared of going too dark. I'm working on a group project for a animation short next semester and am in charge up BG's layouts, painting, and color keys. I'm working on some Vis Dev stuff right now. Here are a few of my Gouache studies I have been playing around with the last few days. Enjoy!

Well here are a few of the watercolor paintings done at Irvine National park ( which I didn't even knew existed) and one from Crystal Cove. I have some more but I need to scan them in in pieces or take a photograph because they are a lil larger. So I tried to play on that stranded island SOS theme with a a Shag like style. There might be some difference between the final print and this but I am still playing around with some other ideas. Well hey there folks I wanted to post up a little something before I leave to go on vacation, I have to leave my computer and will be on the road most of the time which doesn't allow me to upload anything. So I thought I would post a lil sketch of a illustration I thought would be fun. Well I wanted to share with you guys my process for some backgrounds I just recently finished. Enjoy!

Layout:1 Glacier Lake

Stage:1 Sketch: mostly trying to get composition and perspective correct.

Stage:2 Value Study: Here I was trying to nail the overall tone of the piece and make sure the composition still works with the values now laid in.

Stage:3 Color: For this one I used watercolor and prismacolor to get the details sharper.

Layout:2 The Runaway

Stage:1 Sketch: Again I was trying to find an interesting composition and get the perspective right.

Stage:2 Value Study: Here I am trying to set the mood and the focal point with contrast

Stage:3 Color rendering: For this one I was inspired by the Winnie the Pooh Backgrounds. I used Inked lines with watercolor washes.

A Breathe of Fresh Air

Well today was a nice day, a day alone with my thoughts and gaining a fresh look at where I am at, and knowing where I need to go. School, work and life in general can start to weigh me down when I don't stop and breath. Stepping back and remember that no matter where I go and whatever I am up against there is always going to be a comfort waiting for me, I just have to remember that the good Lord is waiting..lookin for me to turn to him. This embrace I tend to forget at times when life (ie.work,school,stress) becomes so busy. Tonight I remember and I don't ever believe that I could have ever forgot, but I know I will again. I want never to forget and say I will never again but I know life comes at me hard and I am human. But, that doesn't give me an excuse, it gives me grounding, a goal, and a mark to know where I am, was and will be. It is a humbling of the mind so that I can gain control of it. I want to strive to come closer to my Savior (my best friend). You see! We’re pals! I really can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Because I have a comfort in knowing I am never alone. My belief is not based on a religion, it is merely a relationship. Beautifully complex in it's depths but as a whole it can simply be defined as a friendship. A friendship with a friend who will never go behind my back, always be there, and gives freely without asking/expecting anything in return. I set out tonight expecting to get a lot of work done focusing too hard on things that, in the long run, really do not have much significance in the big picture of life, things that can't ever bring a real reason for living. It felt like taking a breathe after holding it in for sooooo long! It felt good. God is good and will always be good. God is in good (GoOD), funny how I start to see these things. This all came to me while at Starbucks having a cup of JOe. I rode my bike over to McClains and just began have some time drawing with my pal Lord. It was a blast observing people and sketchin them down, from there I rode back to school and came home where I am now. I don't usually journal blog but it does feel good to do so and I hope that this gave you a lil incite into the life of Brando

ok ssooooo the time is Fifth Grade in Mr. Davis Class. My friend Justin Hong and I had the Love of drawing in common. Together we created a Super hero unlike ANY superhero known ( not really ..actually just like every superhero) to Man. We would trade off, one night I would take the comic home to work on it and Justin would do the same. Our Teacher Mr.Davis liked it so much he would send us to the Library to work on "The SHADOW" during Earth Science. I had a ball reading through this comic after finding it stuffed in a box at the bottum of my closet. Just remember I was in Fifth grade so if the plot line is all over the place thats why......Enjoy :D

There is a wonderful gallery in downtown Fullerton that has many of the Leyendecker originals so GO CHECK IT OUT!!! It's at the Fullerton Museum 301 N. Pomona Avenue, Fullerton, CA 92832. it's only 3$ for something thats once in a lifetime!
